POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounts Payable / Payroll Accountant will play a key role in the accounting department. Including daily accounts payable invoice entry for NAC and assigned properties, weekly check runs, administrative support for payroll process, and other accounting related activities as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Payable:
- Primary Accounts Payable point of contact for NAC with employees, assigned properties, and vendors.
- Responsible for maintaining vendor listing and new vendor setup.
- Work with Depts for verification of expenses and proper account coding.
- Research all past due notices or billing discrepancy items to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payment.
- Develop Accounts Payable guide.
- Organize and maintain vendor/payment files.
- Comply with internal controls policies & procurement procedures and provide support during annual audit process.
- Periodic search of the CMS List of Excluded Individuals and Entities as it relates to vendors and contract professionals.
- Credit Card Reconciliation
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Payroll:
- Primary Payroll point of contact with employees and HR
- Responsible for maintaining and updating payroll records as needed, i.e., update payrates, dept. changes, deductions, etc.
- Provide administrative review of timecards to ensure proper time entry; work with employee supervisor and Sr. Accountant to resolve issues.
- Assist with the review and submittal of bi-weekly payroll.
- Develop Payroll process guide
- Organize and maintain payroll files.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- AA in Accounting/Finance or related degree.
- Five or more years of accounts payable and payroll experience, with 1-2 years of non-profit accounting experience.
- Knowledge of fund & cost accounting with nonprofit experience.
- QuickBooks Online (Enterprise) experience required.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Able to effectively interact with others in a positive and professional environment.
- Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem- solving and organizational and time management skills.
