Forestry Technician: AA Natural Resource Management, located in Grass Valley, CA, has Immediate openings for entry level “Forestry Technician I” and minimum one-year field experience “Forestry Technician II” positions. We offer above average compensation and opportunities to gain varied work experience. Successful applicants will work jointly with other technicians and professional foresters on all facets of field operations, with a focus on Timber cruising, Timber Sale preparation, Timber Harvesting Plan preparation fieldwork. The term of this position is seasonal with potential for permanent placement and advancement. Appropriate equipment and transportation will be provided. This position will be based out of Grass Valley, CA, and required travel for work assignments up to 80% of the time.
Forestry Tech II - Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor’s of Science degree in forestry or closely related field.
- One-year forestry field work experience
- Forestry field crew supervision experience
- USFS Timber Cruising Certification or ISA Certified Arborist
Forestry Tech I - Minimum Qualifications:
- • Two-year AA degree in forestry or currently enrolled at an accredited college or university and working towards a degree in forestry or closely related field. o Valid driver’s license
- o High degree of self-motivation, excellent organizational skills, good decision-making skills and a good attitude

Both positions:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Marking Timber under a variety of Silvicultural prescriptions, Timber Cruising, Timber sale layout
- Assist lead Forester with permit and/or management plan preparation
- Compliance with Forest Practice Rules
- Reforestation and Herbicide application
Preferred skills:
- Familiarity with Northern California tree species, basic mensuration, and silvicultural prescriptions
- Working knowledge of a diameter tape, relaskop, hypsometer and other common forestry
- Be able to navigate using a map and or compass
- Basic Math and computer skills, GIS skills a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft office suit (word, excel, PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of GPS systems
- Must be able to work alone in the woods
- Must be able to work in inclement weather, hike and navigate steep, brushy terrain
Compensation: Forestry Tech I – From $32/Hr. to $36/Hr. and Forestry Tech II – From $38/Hr. to $42/Hr. These positions are hourly non-exempt; overtime compensation will apply, with the possibility of advancement to a full-time salary benefited position.
