A successful applicant will perform professional work ensuring the Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Improvement (QI) process for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) System within the City Ambulance Service company. Duties should be performed in an accurate and timely fashion under the general direction of the QA Specialist and the Director of EMS operations. This role will also assist in the coordinated efforts to ensure quality assurance standards are met and thoroughly researched.
Representative Duties
Reviews patient care reports and evaluates the department’s Paramedics and EMT’s according to City Ambulance Service Medical Protocols and department policies and standard operations procedures (SOPs).
· Works with report writers to insure complete and accurate patient care reports.
· Develops Quality Assurance Accountability Reports (QAARs).
· Attends Quality Assurance meetings to assist in the improvement of patient care, report writing, and employee development.
· Identifies trends develops curriculum and teaches EMS/QA classes as assigned.
· Coordinates and participates in internal and external programs regarding quality assurance and training activities.
. Performs other field evaluations and activities as directed.
. Coordinate with Billing on patient reporting kickbacks and cooperating with field employees to finalize their ePCRs
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Human Services, Health, Public or Business Administration or a closely related field and one year of experience in project management or quality assurance; or an equivalent of a combination of relevant education, training or experience.
Current certification by the State of Texas as a Paramedic with EMS related experience.
The candidate selected must possess or complete and successfully pass all requirements for current certification as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Instructor. If the candidate does not possess certifications, they must attend first available classes scheduled by City Ambulance Service.
Preferences
· Degree in emergency medical services/technology, nursing, fire science, respiratory or cardiovascular technologist.
· Four years of clinical experience, two years of which must have been in an emergency/field setting (hospital emergency room, hospital critical care unit, fire/rescue department, Ambulance Company, or medical service)
· Current BLS/CPR certification
- Paramedic certification is a minimum requirement.
