TYPE: FULL-TIME (9-month)
The Department of Theatre Arts at Howard University (www.finearts.howard.edu) is seeking dynamic, skilled, engaged, and collaboration-minded candidates for the position of Lecturer of Theatre Arts Administration in the nationally renowned Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Theatre Arts Administration program.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate success in teaching and guiding theatre students, proficiency in the arts and crafts of THEATRE ARTS, relevant professional work in the field, scholarly contributions to the discipline, and a commitment to Howard University’s mission to create theatre leaders capable of driving change and solving problems for humanity through the scholarship and artistic practice of theatre arts administration. The ideal candidate will also have a passion for remaining current in the field regarding evolving styles, techniques, technologies, trends, scholarship and andragogy of theatre arts administration.
This is a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment beginning academic year (AY) 2024-25. The candidate will work with the faculty of the Theatre Arts Administration program, and faculty in the other five departmental concentrations, to continue to build on the Program's many strengths for the training of aesthetic cultural activists in the broad fields of Theatre Arts.
Duties primarily include:

Administrative duties –
Instructional duties – teaching courses in Theatre Arts Administration and other relevant areas within the Department of Theatre Arts with a minimum/maximum workload of 15/18 credit hours per academic year.
FALL (9 credits)

SPRING (10 credits)
- The Producer’s Workshop
- Finance Management
- Admin Labs 1, 2, 3, 4
Research Scholarship and Creative duties - pursuing professional growth through funded research, scholarly writing, advanced study and/or original creative production on-campus appropriate to the discipline of theatre arts administration. Experience, scholarship, creative works, and/or significant contributions in two or more of the following areas: strategy, leadership coaching, leadership development, human capital/performance management, public policy/policy development, advocacy, legal, finance management, marketing, branding, entrepreneurship, diversity, equity and inclusion, production, production management, administration, performance, visual and media arts management; performing, visual and media artistic experience, collections management, tax, and procurement.
Departmental, College and University Service duties – serving on departmental, college and university wide committees for the governance of departmental, college and university shared governance.
Professional Qualifications:
MFA or equivalent professional experience and training that equates in Theatre Arts Administration or related discipline completed by date of employment
At least 3 years teaching experience and administrative leadership at the university/college level
Salary Range: Commiserate with market value and candidate’s experience

Notes About the Candidate Review Process: Applications will be accepted through May 1, 2024. Once your application is submitted online, it will be reviewed by the Departmental Chair, Departmental Search Committee, Departmental Appointments, Promotions and Tenure (APT) Committee, College of Fine Arts APT Committee, the College Dean and the Office of the Provost and University President for their recommendations and/or approvals regarding the advancement of your candidacy for the position in question. Final candidates will be invited to engage faculty, students and staff either in-person and/or virtually in a round of mandatory interviews. After all processes are complete according to the procedures outlined in the HU Faculty Handbook, a formal offer will be made and, if accepted, your application will be advanced to the stage of hire. You can expect the process to take at least 12 weeks (about 3 months). This position has an anticipated start date in August 2024.
