Job Description for Caregivers
The following described the primary responsibilities expected of Caregivers (Live-in, part-time and full-time) employed by Aspire Care LLC. Caregivers may be responsible for additional duties not listed on the job description.
Nutrition:
- Plan and prepare 3 nutritionally balanced meals per day. Once such meal should be served in the morning (breakfast), one in the afternoon (lunch) and one in the evening (dinner). Snacks will be provided as well
- Monitor food expiration dates. No food should be prepared and stored in the refrigerator past a 72-hour window. Please date when the food was prepared
- Follow any special diets or feedings ordered by medical professionals. Caregiver may need to assist clients when eating
- Additional duties – Caregivers must grocery shop when needed. Please follow and prepare meals accordingly
Cleaning: Caregivers provide cleaning services on a daily/weekly basis
- General cleaning – maintaining the living areas of the home (kitchen, bathrooms, living room, dining room, bedrooms, and more)
- Washing individual’s clothing, bedding, and linens
- Washing dishes (loading and unloading the dishwasher) shortly after meals
- Empty all garbage cans in the home
- Sweep and mop all uncarpeted floors as well as stairs and hallways
- Vacuum all carpeted areas in the home
- Clean and disinfect all bathrooms as well as replacing all bathroom supplies
- Maintain the individual’s bedrooms (neat and orderly conditions)
Assistance Outside of the Home: Caregivers will run daily errands for individuals in the home, these may include but are not limited to, picking up individual’s hygiene and necessities they may want or need.
Medication Monitoring: Caregivers shall observe individual’s physical and mental state on a regular basis. If additional care is needed, then the caregiver will address Management.
- Caregivers will pass medications with the proper certifications
- If there is a medication error, it must be reported to management immediately
Caregivers shall pass medications as prescribed by medial professional
- Correct time
- Correct dose
- Correct client
- Correct medication
Personal Care Needs:
- Caregiver should provide personal assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, and toileting/incontinence care
- Caregivers are expected to prompt/cue and ensure that all personal cares are completed even if the clients does not need hands on assistance
- Caregiver will assist with transferring if needed
Transportation:
- Divers license requirements – You must have a valid driver’s license to transport clients or use a company car. Please refer to the written policy
- Caregiver must obtain permission to use the company vehicle from Autumn Kielsmeier or Brittani Nehmer
- Caregivers will assist with transportation needs
- Escort individuals on appointments as needed – caregivers are expected to accompany the client throughout the appointment process. The caregiver is expected to complete an Appointment Summary sheet, schedule a follow up appointment if necessary, and communicate the appointment results to Autumn Kielsmeier and Brittani Nehmer
- Escort individuals to religious services and/or other outings and events
- Run errands as needed
Companionship:
- Caregiver will provide companionship and emotional support to Aspire Care LLC individuals.
- Caregiver will engage in activities with individuals (games, outings, conversations)
- In the apartment settings, all clients and caregivers must stay in their assigned apartments – if clients or caregivers would like to interact with others, they must do so in the common areas and not in private corridors
- No guests are allowed in the facilities without prior authorization from management– this rule goes for clients and employees
Other Requirements:
- Record daily care notes for clients
- Record daily documentation about shift – this will be completed on the Shift Report document
- Report any significant individual changes or behaviors to the appropriate member of management as soon as possible
