Works Plus Mentor/Case Manager Work Readiness Training for Teens & Young Adults (16-30)
Job Description
Works Plus Mentors will use wraparound case management and individualized client plans to help individuals, ages 16 to 30, to develop employment strategies and skills. They will work with clients to help them develop positive behaviors and build their emotional, social, and professional development, toward becoming employment-ready and ultimately attaining employment and stability.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Facilitation of curriculum/journey-level and cycle-based work readiness workshops. This role involves conducting and facilitating work readiness workshops, mock interviews to assess client needs, and disseminating information regarding employment opportunities. Mentors will also be required to travel within a job-related capacity for special events, or to escort participants to implement community service requirements.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Interviews clients to record and assess employment information to determine clients’ career development opportunities.
- Facilitate Works Plus employment readiness workshops
- Determines client eligibility for employment and explains requirements of the job.
- Determines what employment services are needed and explains available job openings and occupational training available.
- Verifies the satisfactory placement of clients with employers and obtains some form of employment verification.
- Disseminates information on agency functions, procedures, employment programs, and training to clients and employers.
- Maintains case management records, hard copies, and entered into MIS computer database.
- Accepts and processes applications for employment program services.
- Contacts employers to follow up with referrals.
- May conduct presentations to explain employment programs and services.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Ideal candidate should have experience working with low-income or system-impacted populations
· Experience facilitating work readiness workshops
· Excellent observational, listening, problem-solving, and communication skills;
· Ability to work within a team approach
· Comfortable working in a South Bronx/Harlem community-based setting
· Excellent written communication skills
· Attention to detail and ability to maintain written documentation
· Experience working within Latino & African-American communities
· South Bronx Residents or similar urban areas, are highly encouraged to apply
· Must possess a passion for justice-involved work
· CASAC certification and fluency in Spanish a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
