SUMMARY
After School Elementary Sports & Recreation Coaches are highly motivated and enthusiastic in youth sports. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and a passion for sports. The Youth Sports Instructor will be responsible for planning and leading sports activities for children, ensuring their safety and enjoyment while promoting physical fitness and teamwork.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Lead a dynamic Multi-Sports program, introducing children (5-12 years) to a world of sports through engaging, skill-building activities.
- Teach recreational enrichment classes during after school and summer camps or as assigned by the Program Manager/Director.
- Offer expert instruction and mentorship during after school sports and recreation sessions.
- Implement a diverse sports curriculum, including soccer, dodgeball, and more, tailored for young learners.
- Prioritize student safety, ensuring a secure environment for all sports activities.
- Work collaboratively with fellow coaches to orchestrate school events and sports activities.
- Exhibit patience and adeptness in managing a youthful, energetic sports setting.
- Uphold exemplary professional standards and conduct, becoming an inspiring figure for aspiring athletes.
- Showcase effective management and communication, liaising with educational staff and students.
- Commit to punctuality and the sporting ethos of our program.
- Represent our team with pride, wearing official coaching attire.
- Act as a guiding force, nurturing character growth and fair play among young sports enthusiasts.
- Steer children through exciting sports adventures, cultivating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
- Develop structured lesson plans and sports activities suitable for elementary school students.
- Ensure equipment and materials are prepared and maintained for safe and effective use.
- Teach fundamental sports skills and techniques based on the sport(s) being coached (e.g., soccer, basketball, track and field).
- Demonstrate proper form, technique, and sportsmanship during practices and games.
- Provide individualized coaching to help students improve their abilities.
- Encourage regular physical activity and healthy lifestyles among students.
- Emphasize the importance of warm-ups, stretching, and cool-downs to prevent injuries.
- Incorporate fitness exercises and conditioning drills into practice sessions.
- Instill values of fair play, respect, and teamwork among students.
- Promote positive attitudes and good sportsmanship both on and off the field.
- Organize team-building activities and group exercises to strengthen camaraderie.
- Offer constructive feedback and guidance to help students improve their performance.
- Recognize and celebrate achievements and milestones of individual students and teams.
- Maintain a safe environment during practices, games, and events.
- Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures as needed.
- Supervise students to prevent accidents and ensure adherence to rules and regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

- A good knowledge of safety principles and practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children in a sports or recreational setting.

- Knowledge of sports rules and regulations.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between in-person work environments.
- Self-directed and able to work independently

- Must pass a background check.
- TB test clearance to be renewed every 4 years.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per year
