Victim Advocate
Overview:
Join our team as a Victim Advocate to provide advocacy, support, and information to victims/witnesses of crimes within Centre County.
Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate support and advocacy for victims of various forms of trauma and abuse.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, legal professionals, and social service agencies to ensure the well-being of victims.
- Assist victims in navigating the criminal justice system, including court appearances and legal procedures.
- Conduct assessments to determine the needs of victims and develop personalized support plans.
- Offer crisis intervention services to individuals in distress and connect them with appropriate community resources.
- Educate victims on their rights, options for assistance, and available support services.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions with victims while upholding confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Assess and attach restitution to criminal cases.
- Assist clients with completion of letters, legal paperwork, and other documents.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in social service, criminal justice, or related field.
- Two to three (2-3) years’ work experience in related field; counseling and/or criminal justice experience required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.67 - $28.94 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
