Job Overview:
The Training Director has the essential role of overseeing all IEC Apprenticeship and Training activities and providing the necessary planning and implementation for all training-related activities (both classroom-based and web-based). This includes the hiring, supervision, and development of instructors; overseeing all facets of instruction (including curriculum enhancements and supplementary training materials and equipment); and the ongoing development of lab facilities and exercises. In addition, the Training Director will assist in implementing the Chapter’s workforce development initiatives, and in the creation and execution of a wide variety of other specific training classes and programs as directed.
Duties:
- Managing, hiring, disciplining all IEC instructors from all campuses
- Overseeing all aspects of the classroom and remote training apprenticeship programs, including setting up and implementing all training activities as approved by the Executive Director and Board of Directors
- Creating and implementing an on-going program for the successful acquisition and development of classroom and remote training instructors
- Enhancing and maintaining all classrooms, labs, and studios (including A/V equipment) in order to provide for an environment conducive to learning
- Developing the necessary support materials to enhance the Apprenticeship Training Program learning experience
- Coordinating classroom presentations and labs with the local manufacturers, representatives and electrical supply houses
- Assisting in developing and instructing classes designed to provide educational growth to IEC member journeymen and supporting the Chapter’s workforce development initiatives
- Coordinating communications between the IEC staff, instructors, A&T Committee, and Board of Directors
- Working with other IEC chapters and IEC National to improve the present curriculum and add new courses, as needed
- Participating in developing, and strictly adhering to, the IEC annual financial budget
- Controlling and protecting all IEC assets involved with the education and training of its members
- Overseeing the purchasing of all classroom books and materials for all training classes
- Cooperatively and productively working with other members of the IEC school staff to ensure that all training related duties, tasks, and responsibilities are completed in a timely manner
- Organize make-up classes
- Set-up semi-annual instructors meetings
- Draft student policies
Journeyman Level continuing education classes
- Print and mail flyers
- Process registrations
- Order books
- Receive all incoming course/continuing education reservations
- Annually – OA/BAT/SAC new wage rate survey, including Fringe Benefits form and compile the Summary of Work Related Injuries and Illnesses reports Provide this information to Office of Apprenticeship and Training and notify contractors by mail of new first year journeymen wage rate
- Mails updated letters, information to various high schools
- Summarizes and reports end of year class evaluation forms
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Journeymen Electrical Certificate from the US DOL or State Apprenticeship Board with 10 years of experience in the field
- Proven experience in designing and delivering classroom instruction
- Familiarity with low voltage, electrical systems, hydraulics, CNC, logic controllers, and schematics
- Ability to work with precision measuring instruments
