Our Medical Office Assistant (MOA) plays a crucial role on our healthcare team with a focus on administrative support to providers and patients. Key responsibilities are listed below.
Administrative Duties:
- Answering and directing phone calls.
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments.
- Maintaining patient records and lab reports.
- EMR systems management, including reports
- Handling correspondence, including emails, faxes, and mail.
- Managing office supplies and inventory.
- Coordinating with other healthcare providers and services.
- Preparing charts for patient visits
Patient Interaction:
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Greeting and registering patients upon arrival.
- Verifying patient information.
- Explaining office policies and procedures to patients.
- Collecting patient payments and processing billing transactions.
- Assisting patients with forms and documentation.
Clinical Support:
- Preparing examination rooms and ensuring cleanliness.
- Assisting physicians and nurses during examinations and procedures.
- Taking and recording vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, temperature).
- Understanding the collection of laboratory specimens.
- Ensuring proper disposal of medical waste.
Medical Record Management:
- Updating and maintaining electronic health records (EHR).
- Ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Transcribing medical reports and correspondence.
Customer Service:
- Addressing patient inquiries and concerns.
- Providing information on healthcare services and facilities.
- Facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhering to all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Staying updated on changes in healthcare regulations and practices.
- Participating in continuing education and training programs.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Office Assistant or Medical Assistant certificate program.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a medical office setting required.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other office software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.50 - $25.00 per hour
