Job Title: Tow Operator
Reports To: Terminal Manager
Job Summary:
ATOW Atlanta is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious tow truck driver to assist with our 24/7 towing services. The candidate will be responsible for providing safe, efficient, prompt roadside assistance, and vehicle recovery/impound services for customers, stranded motorists, and law enforcement agencies in and around the Atlanta metro area. The ideal candidate is a problem solver with excellent customer service skills who can handle high-stress situations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Respond to service calls in a timely manner.
- Operate tow trucks and other recovery vehicles with an emphasis on safety, ensuring all operation standards and guidelines are met.
- Hook and unhook cars properly to the tow truck.
- Transport vehicles and equipment safely to designated locations like repair shops, vehicle owners' homes, and ATOW vehicle storage facilities.
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and law enforcement officials.
- Document and report any incidents, accidents, or irregularities.
- Manage payment transactions and complete appropriate paperwork/processes as required.
- Perform regular maintenance and safety checks on company vehicles.
- Navigate different routes within the Atlanta metro area using GPS or other navigation tools.
- Always maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
Required Skills:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Prior experience as a tow truck driver or similar role is preferred.
- Excellent driving and navigational skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude to be familiar with various vehicle types.
- Physically able to meet job demands, including lifting heavy equipment and securing vehicles.
- Ability to work varied hours, weekends, holidays, and in adverse weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel and bend as needed.
- Estimated percentages for each type of activity; Standing 10%, Walking 10%, Sitting 50%, Bending 15%, Kneeling 15%.
- May require sitting for prolonged periods.
- May require walking on unlevel surfaces periodically throughout the day.
- Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required throughout the work day.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds at times.
