This is a part-time (15 hours per week) one-year assignment. Hours are scheduled between 8AM and 6PM Monday through Friday with significantly reduced hours over the summer and the winter session. Hours may increase during busy times, such as exam periods.

The Library Assistant supports the daily operations of the University Libraries Special Collections by staffing service points, assisting patrons, processing resource requests, processing collections, curating exhibits, and assisting with on-going and special projects.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience working in Special Collections; excellent customer service skills; the ability to communicate effectively across a diverse population; and the ability to work creatively, independently, and collaboratively while contributing to a positive and professional work environment.
Responsibilities include:

Assist with the processing of collections and creation of finding aids

Assist with planning programs and exhibitions

Assist patrons by answering and referring questions about the discoverability, access, and use of the collections

Shelve and retrieve materials

Maintain quality control and inventory of collections.

Process resource requests

Assist with on-going and special projects

Perform other duties as assigned
