Marathon Staffing is seeking candidates for contract, 1st shift, Entry Level Maintenance Mechanic position available immediately in Austell, GA!
Job Description:
- Participate in mill-wide safety, housekeeping and all continuous improvement programs (Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, etc.)
- General shop practices:
- Using hand and power tools: saws, hydraulic jacks, gear pullers, punches, pipe benders, drills, drill press, band-saws, hydraulic presses, threaders
- Measure and/or test instruments: inside/outside micrometers, pi tapes, dial indicators, laser alignment devices, Vernier scales, optical alignment tools, vibration analysis equipment, atmospheric sniffers, etc.
- Maintenance troubleshooting:
- Knowledge of mechanical maintenance programs, practices, procedures and equipment troubleshooting
- Diagnose root causes of operational failures including use of statistical process control techniques
- Complete basic repairs on most types of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems:
- Knowledge with the rating and selection factors such as: capacity, speed, flow volume, pressure, construction, style, type and general operational characteristics of air and hydraulic-pumps, motors, pressure control valves, directional control valves, cylinders, and flow dividers
- Assess and troubleshoot an operating condition
- Lubrication methods and systems:
- Determine type of lubricant meets operating equipment needs
- Knowledge of various types of oil lubricants: hydraulic, general and special purpose, synthetic oils
- Knowledge of characteristics of greases; the effects of temperature, loads, speed, environment; how greases are made; why greases are chosen instead of oil; and general applications of greases
- Knowledge of lubricating systems: manual, gravity, pressure and their specific applications in the mill
- Maintain storage inventories of materials and supplies needed for routine maintenance operations: steel, pump components, shafts, bearings, seals, sleeves, gear sets, fastners, pipe fittings, etc.
- Assist in mill housekeeping
- Conduct equipment inspections of lift truck
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform all duties in a safe and collaborative manner and immediately report any potentially dangerous conditions or other safety concerns to the supervisor
2. Start up and shuts down equipment in accordance with operation’s requirements, company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
3. Perform basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic maintenance tasks in a safe, efficient manner, which supports the continuous improvement process within the facility.
4. Diagnose and repair activities with detailed working procedures. Determines materials, replacement parts, and tools/parts needed to proceed with logical approach to repairs, maintenance and rebuilds.
5. Set-up, adjust, calibrate, and operate equipment; perform layout and bench work; inspect, dismantle, repair, rebuild, assemble, weld, install and lubricate machinery and mechanical equipment throughout the manufacturing facility.
6. Inspect for defects, misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication and determine best process for making repairs with limited interruption to production.
7. Assist in maintaining building needs (heating and cooling systems).
8. Disassemble moves and/or relocates existing equipment and install new equipment.
9. Provide for safe disposal of all toxic materials and supplies.
10. Maintain tools and work area in a safe, neat and secure manner.
11. Maintain daily work logs and update equipment and component records, and if applicable, electronic Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
12. Maintain preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules.
13. Promote and comply with good safety practices and habits, including but not limited to, use of all PPE, ensuring guards and safety features are working.
14. May train others on maintenance activities, including preventative maintenance.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements include:
- Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 4-10 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrates ability to operate machines, hand-tools, and electrical equipment.
- Possesses an operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Demonstrates ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and work orders.
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills with practical, mechanical, and electrical aptitude.
- Possesses basic troubleshooting experience and proven skills in machine repair.
- Ability to pass a background check
Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Contract to last about three months, could extend depending on good attendance and performance!
Pay rate is $29.86 per hour. Agency benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability.
