Job Overview:
We are seeking a Family Support Specialist (FSS) to join our team and provide essential assistance to families with a family-centered and strength-based approach. The role is focused around the Healthy Families America Program which was created to establish trusting relationships with the goal to improve parent-child relationships. The Health Families program focuses on promoting healthy childhood growth, development and establishing well-being of the family by building protective factors.
Duties:
- The Family Support Specialist is responsible for providing home-based prevention services focusing on supporting the parent child relationship, attachment, and family enhancement through child development education, play, goal setting, assessments, and coordination of services/activities for overburdened families
- This position reports directly to the Healthy Families Supervisor
- Conducts home visits in-person and assesses family needs and provide case management services when necessary, while promoting self-sufficiency
- Utilizes child development curriculum with each family and promote positive parent-child relationships
- Must have time management skills
- Must have organizational skills
- Maintains necessary assessments and documentation in accordance with agency and funding source requirements
- Participates in and comes prepared for weekly supervision with Program Supervisor
- Coordinates with other community services
- Attends and participates in all scheduled Healthy Families conferences, seminars, in-service training and parent events
- Maintains all Healthy Families quality assurance standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Adhere to the schedule agreed upon with the supervisor
- Maintain a functional and safe home working space with adequate internet connection for the job
- Comply with all agency and program policies and procedures including confidentiality, employee conduct, computer usage and dress code
- Meet program/department’s performance and productivity standards
- Attend required agency and program/department meetings

Experience:
- The successful candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Valid Driving License
- Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Clean Driving Record
- Must Have Reliable Transportation
- Proficient in Microsoft Software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Bilingual (Spanish & English)
- Must Have a High School Diploma or GED
- Valid CPR Certification
- Ability to work with children in crisis and provide compassionate care
- Excellent conflict management skills to handle challenging situations effectively

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
