Orsman Design (ODI) is an award-winning lighting design firm for interior and landscape lighting. With offices in Southampton, New York and Miami, ODI serves clients throughout the United States and internationally.
Role:
Be part of the Procurement team responsible for managing and directing the purchasing of light fixtures required for various design projects. Responsible for identifying potential supplier sources, conducting interviews with potential vendors, negotiating favorable supplier agreements and managing supplier and vendor contracts. Partner with Design Teams to ensure the right fixtures are obtained and delivered to the right projects in a timely manner.
Role and Responsibilities
- Obtain price quotes for items requested and process formal proposals
- Generate purchase orders (PO’s) using QuickBooks. Verify quoted prices when generating a PO for any item including reordering
- Expedite orders and manage status of purchasing needs for stock items and exterior materials
- Assist Procurement Team in finding and achieving cost saving through sourcing new suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors
- Maintain vendor database and setup local vendors as needed. Use preferred vendors as often as possible
- Update new prices in system and PO’s, formal proposals, and any pertinent information
- Maintain open lines of communications by establishing and building relationships with internal and external customers, including middle and upper management.
- Participate in special projects as directed, to include process improvement with the team
- Review product specifications and maintain a working knowledge of goods or services to be purchased
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers
- Process sample requests and PO’s for the Company’s sample library and design mockups
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum education of High School Diploma required. Degree preferred
- 2-3 years experience in a purchasing/procurement role required
- Experience working in a design/lighting company is highly desirable
- 1-2 years QuickBooks (strongly preferred)
- Must be experienced with Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook with data entry capabilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; solid basic math skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to handle multiple procurement request concurrently and on an on-going basis
- Ability work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Solid judgement with ability to make good decisions and work well with our design team
- Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate rapidly changing needs of growing organization

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
