DAYS, EVENINGS, AND OVERNIGHTS NEEDED: General scheduling contingent on the campus location. Shift start times for evenings can begin anytime 2pm up to 3pm, and ends between 9pm and 11pm. Overnight schedule is typically 7pm or 8pm to 9am, while weekend shifts are 12 to 14 hours., 8am to 8pm. Please note that these shifts provide an overview of the typical working hours, which vary based on the needs of each campus.

Job Summary:
The full-time, Direct Care Staff is responsible for providing comprehensive direct care, supervision and support to meet the daily physical, mental, emotional, developmental and social needs of residents during the OVERNIGHT SHIFT.
General:
- Contributes to our mission, vision, and program philosophies by way of work product and professional behavior with both internal and external parties
- Adheres to the requirements and regulations as set forth by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDFPS) and Texas State Board of Examiners based on clinical licensure and level of care standards
- Adheres to all current federal & state laws, as well as the Gold Star Academy (GSA) Policies and Procedures, including the safeguarding of confidential healthcare information and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Reports immediately any suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect to the Program Administrator
- Attends meetings as required
- Completes other duties as directed by the House/Campus or Administrator
Duties:
- Supervise and assist as needed residents during meal preparation, housekeeping responsibilities, personal hygiene, grooming and other activities as needed.
- Maintain records as designated by policies and procedures such as, but not limited to; documentation of assigned training classes, physical observation, significant observation notes, and any behavioral management programs.
- Provide transportation to residents as required.
- Supervise residents in recreational activities both on campus and off campus.
- Be responsible during evening hours to contact appropriate administrative staff in case of an emergency.
- Make written reports of significant incidents occurring during shift.
- Serve, as an informal advocate for residents.
- Correct unacceptable behavior and help residents meet the necessary requirements of the house rules.
- Provide first-aid assistance to all residents and assist in the follow through on medical needs for residents.
- Complete weekly meal monitoring sheets, assigned chores, and special requests.
- Assist in maintaining all necessary supplies for client needs, i.e. grooming supplies, household cleaning supplies, and items needed for staff job duties.
- Assist in general upkeep and repair of facility such as, but, not limited to: keeping inside of vehicles clean and ensure sufficient gasoline level for next usage, cleaning of facility grounds and/or buildings, and pursuing possible outside resources for resolving noted problems area
- Maintains acceptable attendance and dress codes, including personal hygiene, and other work policies, procedures and duties as assigned.
- Participate in scheduled hours of training annually.
- Be knowledgeable in and follow TDFPS licensing standards.
- Respectful of children's rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, safety, and well-being of children in our care
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Education & Experience:
- Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or a GED
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience as direct care staff in a residential treatment center
- Experience working with children diagnosed with behavioral and emotional disorders is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to assist residents during meal preparation, housekeeping responsibilities, personal hygiene, grooming and other activities as needed.

- Proof of valid Texas Driver's License (Type C)

- Proof of valid/current auto insurance (only hired employees who transport clients)
- DMV record for those hired to Transport Clients
- Three (3) employment references
- Cleared criminal background check
- Cleared TB test results (current within 12 months prior to employment)
- Cleared drug screen
- Reliable mode of contact (Cellular Telephone, Lan-line; Email, VOIP etc.)
Physical Demands:
With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, frequent sitting, standing and walking, may be required for long periods of time and may involve climbing stairs, walking up inclines, and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include, frequent lifting and or moving.
