The Chief Engineer leads the engineering department and establishes expectations and requirements in cooperation with executive management. Responsibilities range from hiring and training of new team members, oversight of projects and client relationships, and creation and management of the department budget and performance indicators. The Chief Engineer is both a strategic that requires an in-depth technical knowledge. The strategic aspect includes setting goals for the team, hiring engineers and prioritizing projects. The technical aspect is about getting actively involved to resolve operational issues and develop new services and clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees engineering staff and ensures that they meet goals and objectives.
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains additional engineering staff as needed.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Provides coaching, training and mentoring as needed.
Responsibilities and duties:
Works closely with the Production Managers and Engineer’s to ensure the appropriate team member is assigned to the proper type of work.
Works closely with the Production Manager to establish best practices for scheduling and job workflows.
Ensures that projects are completed within budget and on time.
Establishes and implements the strategic direction of the company’s engineering and development initiatives.
Collaborates with the company’s executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.
Prepare monthly executive summary report (ESR) for the Engineering Department
Present at staff or client meetings
Ensure engineering department goals are in line with strategic planning of the enterprise.
Identify, recommend, and implement new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making.
Ensures that departmental decisions such as staffing, development, organization, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.
Establishes, communicates, and implements engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and file security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
Establishes and administers the department’s budget.
Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related to the organization’s industry.
Maintain company engineering standards and provide mentoring to direct reports.
Provide final approval for changes to engineering standards.
Collaborates with marketing department to determine market potential for new services.
Oversees engineering department legal issues and company representative in legal proceedings.
Review proposals from a scope and risk perspective
Develop department metrics to ensure performance and budget requirements are met.
Performs other related duties as required.

· Professional Engineering licensure in the State of Florida, multiple states preferred.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
· At least ten years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
