Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Plant Engineer to join our team. This position oversees the maintenance of plant machinery, new equipment installations, repairs, and upgrades with a focus on optimizing operational and cost efficiencies, maintaining quality standards, and enhancing plant reliability using engineering expertise and project management skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Move across areas of responsibility to the flow of the work: 40% engineering and capital projects 30% repair and maintenance; 20% process improvement, 10% environmental.
- Capital project development and post-approval management.
- Develop capital investment ideas that support overall plant performance, product quality, and cost efficiencies.
- Responsible for managing the activities of the maintenance department of a large complex plant to keep buildings and equipment in a proper state of repair, reduce mechanical downtime, and keep production running at maximum efficiency.
- Manages the maintenance staff through delegation, policy and procedure administration, assignment of work responsibilities, planning, organizing, directing, and follow-up of the work assignment.
- Carry out the direction and performance of maintenance operations to achieve planned objectives and goals.
- Ensure plant upgrades and installation of equipment are completed according to schedule and within budget guidelines.
- Seek input from and collaborate with the production team to resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and regulatory agencies; working with third-party contract services as needed.
- Work with the VP of Operations to develop the “one best way” to operate equipment across shifts.
- Maintains knowledge of the latest developments and technologies relative to machine reliability, asset management, and maintenance operations
- Develop technical expertise in operations to support asset utilization.
- Assess and revise the preventative maintenance program with a focus on operating cost and downtime minimization in line with safety and environmental compliance demands.
- Provide expertise relative to research and development that leads to plant enhancements in support of new product and capital initiatives.
- Provides leadership and guidance to employees in the Maintenance Department
- Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Prior experience in manufacturing and maintenance, preferred
- Technical and supervisory experience in electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, instrumentations, automation, and computer fields
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to grow and develop positive relationships
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
