Position Overview: Sunbelt Staffing is currently seeking a seasoned Director of Nursing (DON) for a temporary contract assignment in Houston, TX. This role is ideal for a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in healthcare and a strong background in management. The position demands adherence to Joint Commission standards, including passing a background check and a 10-panel drug screen.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years in the healthcare sector, particularly within clinical settings, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
- Licensure: Valid Nursing Home Administrator license in the State of Texas, with a minimum of 2 years of skilled nursing home experience.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of reimbursement regulations, nursing practices, procedures, and pertinent long-term care administration laws, regulations, and guidelines.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Patient Care Leadership: Oversee patient care activities to ensure exceptional quality care. Lead clinical and non-clinical staff, approve new hires, establish performance standards, and conduct appraisals. Identify departmental needs, provide necessary resources, maintain visibility and accessibility, recognize staff achievements, and offer continuous performance feedback.
- Strategic Development: Define the department's scope of service and set goals. Develop and implement a strategic plan, stay abreast of industry developments, and update departmental policies and procedures accordingly. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and engage in departmental and hospital marketing activities.
- Financial Management: Monitor and manage departmental budgets to meet or exceed financial targets. Prepare and submit budget reports, forecast expenses accurately, and address budget variances promptly. Propose capital budget items as necessary.
- Staff Training and Development: Foster professional growth by ensuring mandatory and continuing education requirements are met. Support staff training needs through collaboration with the Education department, and contribute to departmental and organizational goals. Act as a preceptor, mentor, and resource for less experienced staff.
