The Labs and Learning Environment Support Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day operations of all the teaching and learning space for the MD program. The coordinator functions as a vital member of the Curricular Affairs team and report directly to the Labs and Learning Environment Manager, while working closely with faculty and staff.
Anatomical Coordination (20%)
- Participates in tracking and managing the inventory of all anatomic, cadaveric, and prosected materials around the medical center and maintains the resource for all courses in the MD program and those used in the continuing medical education courses involving these materials.
- Responsible for the storage, arranging, prepping and maintenance of cadavers and cadaveric material for each lab.
- Supports the procurement process for teaching cadavers, cadaveric material, and other teaching and dissection lab materials for the MD program and continuing education programs for the medical school.
- Assist with laboratory and equipment cleanup.
- Work with vendors to ensure the ethical and legal compliance of the handling, manipulation and disposal of cadavers and cadaveric materials.
- Manage the disposal of waste to keep the laboratory and all other work areas in pristine condition.
- Maintaining equipment and cold room storage records and daily work logs
Learning Environment Oversight (65%)
- Coordinates set up and upkeep of all educational sessions in the teaching spaces on the 12th and 13th floors.
- Performs maintenance and upkeep of the day-to-day operations of the classroom and lab teaching environment inclusive of equipment, and supplies
- Partners with Curriculum Managers, Course Directors, and the Center for Anatomy and Functional Morphology on the resources and set up for specific educational sessions.
- Backs up the Lab and Learning Environment Manager during their absence.
- Consults with course directors and faculty regarding laboratory logistics, educational supplies, equipment, and support for all courses using the teaching space.
- Coordinate specimen services for major conferences, class lectures, laboratory conferences and symposia throughout the medical center
- Participate in all course setup/project meetings and work closely with project coordinators for support.
- Track the inventory of all supplies related to classroom and laboratory teaching, and let the manager know when supplies are needed.
Other Responsibilities (15%)
- Provide cross training and support other team members when needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with technical, physicians, vendors, and funeral directors
- Perform other duties as needed as part of a collaborative team, and as the new curriculum of ASCEND unfolds.
Minimum Education
High school diploma, or work experience commensurate with a formal education.
Minimum Related Experience
- Experience in overseeing classrooms and/or laboratories.
- Preference for comfort in handling cadavers and cadaveric materials
- Knowledge of technology/ computer skills
