As a member of the MERCI family, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with daily living skills and leisure activities, while upholding our core values of respect, dignity, and inclusivity. Our participants, many of whom have been with us for multiple decades, encompass a range of abilities, with a historical focus on those who are moderately or profoundly developmentally disabled. While challenging behaviors are rare, our dedicated team includes a board-certified behavior analyst to provide additional support if required.
What You'll Do:
- Collaborate closely with individuals, empowering them with choices and opportunities for personal growth.
- Ensure a supportive environment with a staff-to-participant ratio of one to three.
- Facilitate community integration, enabling clients to engage in work, volunteer activities, and social interactions.
- Uphold individual preferences and rights, fostering autonomy in decision-making and activity planning.
- Provide personalized support tailored to each person's needs, promoting self-advocacy and independence.
- Foster successful community integration while maintaining appropriate levels of support.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, attending team meetings and training sessions as required.
- Help support daily living skills, which may include assisting with feeding and changing adult briefs if needed.
What You Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Proficient communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- First Aid and CPR certification (training provided if needed).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when assisting individuals.
- Successful completion of health check, including TB test (costs covered by MERCI).
- Clear background check, including fingerprinting.
- Valid California Driver's License and insurance.
