BACKGROUND:
The Immokalee Foundation transforms the lives of students from low-income backgrounds by providing scholarships and a range of educational programs. Each year the Foundation directly serves over 1,300 hard-working, deserving students from the agricultural community of Immokalee, FL. All its work is data driven, measurable and outcome oriented, resulting in a 100% high school graduation rate and 100% entry into post-secondary programs. The Foundation is supported by an engaged Board of Directors, an exceptionally loyal donor base and a wide network of community partners.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is an on-site, hands-on position. Reporting to the chief financial officer (CFO), the Staff Accountant will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities. As the number-one executive to the CFO, the Staff Accountant will be involved in supporting presentations to the board finance and audit committee and will work closely with the senior leadership team. The Staff Accountant will lead all day-to-day finance operations of a budget of $5 million and will ensure that the Foundation has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Staff Accountant will work closely with program leaders and their staffs, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support program operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily attendance and punctuality are an important responsibility of all Immokalee Foundation employees and therefore considered an essential function for all positions. In addition this position will:
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
- Coordinate all audit activity.
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of Nonprofit’s financial status.
- Assist Foundation leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
- Support the CFO in engaging the board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
- Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenses are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for private donors, corporate, and Foundation grants.
- Maintain ongoing accounting records, general ledger, accounts payables, accounts receivables, payroll, bank reconciliation, and all assets and depreciation. Ensure payments are posted with the highest accuracy and integrity.
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum three-years solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
- QuickBooks advanced proficiency required.
- A track record in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of corporate and Foundation grants is essential and preferred.
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting in QuickBooks and reporting software.

Pay: $69,000.00 - $72,400.00 per year
