Part Time Safe House Victim Advocate
**Schedule is primarily Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 3pm to 11pm**
This position is fully funded by contracts and is subject to annual renewal.
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To provide supportive services for residents and assist Victim Advocates with day to day operations at emergency safe house facility.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

- Supervisory Responsibilities o None
- Duties/Responsibilities o Answer emergency hotlines o Conduct new client intakes into domestic violence safe house o Maintain records as required in procedure manual o Perform data entry as assigned o Transportation of residents as needed during scheduled hours (in Women’s Center van) o Enforce safe house rules and maintain security of location and safety of residents o Provide peer counseling and client advocacy as coordinated with case manager/advocate
o Assist with sorting, organizing, and maintaining inventory of safe house supplies o Other duties as assigned by the Director of Victim Services – North Brevard
- Required Skills/Abilities o Motivated to provide exceptional care to safe house residents and victims of crime o Excellent communication skills, including oral, written and effective listening o Ability to advocate for all victims of crime, reporting and non-reporting o Demonstrated ability to work calmly through a crisis o Cultural competency and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds o Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate effective time management o Ability to handle crisis calls and mandatory reporting requirements o Ability to maintain caseload and provide ongoing case management o Ability to maintain appropriate files and documentation for program o Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling to primary and secondary victims and their families o Ability to work collaboratively across all departments and between all levels within the organization
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, bending, and regular use of standard office equipment such as the telephone, copier, fax and computer. Demands also involve protracted concentration. Job involves frequent interactions with internal and external customers, and routinely intense public contact.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Florida Driver’s license with good driving history
- Ability to pass a level II background screening
- Ability to quickly learn necessary computer applications
- Team oriented and motivated to provide exceptional care to victims of crime
- Must complete SAVS online act training within 30 days of hire
- Must participate in on-going on the job training as assigned by Director of Victim Services
