About Us:
Middlesex Youth Treatment Residence provides supportive living for youths and families facing significant mental and behavioral health challenges. Our program integrates innovative academic strategies with trained mental health professionals to offer individualized learning support, ensuring students can access the general education curriculum as outlined by the Vermont Department of Education.
Summary of Job Responsibilities:
As our Nurse, you will provide critical oversight and supervision to meet the medical needs of our residents. You will ensure proper medication administration and uphold the general physical health of our students in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Your responsibilities will include:
· Maintaining clinical licensure (RN).
· Reviewing intake materials for relevant information and assessments.
· Developing a baseline of health and psychiatric information regarding residents and their families.
· Ensuring immunization records and recent physicals are on file.
· Meeting with residents within 24 hours of intake to assess health needs.
· Providing medical services and referrals for students with ailments.
· Coordinating with home psychiatrists/pediatricians to meet all health needs.
· Consulting with the home psychiatrist within 7 days of intake.
· Collaborating with the clinical team for medication management, including routine consultations with psychiatrists.
· Monitoring medication side effects as directed by consulting psychiatrists/physicians.
· Obtaining permission from parents/guardians for any medication changes and documenting these in KCARE.
· Creating and managing Medication Administration Records (MAR) for each resident.
· Training residential faculty on medication administration and health needs.
· Communicating resident-specific health information with faculty.
· Maintaining regular communication with families/guardians regarding residents' health needs.
· Coordinating appointments with local providers.
· Managing and ordering medication supplies.
· Documenting all services provided, medication administered, and outside contacts within 24 hours.
· Performing other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or Director of Operations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
· Active Vermont Nursing License (RN).
· Minimum of 2 years of experience working with adolescents.
· Satisfactory background check.
· Authorization to work in the United States.
