The Instrument and Electrical Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all I&E maintenance activities to ensure efficient operation and reliability of plant instrumentation and electrical systems. This role involves developing detailed work plans, managing maintenance resources, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and improving the overall effectiveness of the I&E maintenance program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop detailed work plans for I&E maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
- Prepare and maintain schedules for I&E maintenance work, ensuring optimal resource allocation and minimal disruption to plant operations.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to prioritize and schedule work orders.
- Resource Management:
- Estimate labor, materials, tools, and equipment required for I&E maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of required materials and spare parts.
- Manage third-party contractors and vendors as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all I&E maintenance activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment histories.
- Generate regular reports on maintenance performance metrics, such as work order completion rates, equipment downtime, and maintenance costs.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all I&E maintenance activities comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations related to I&E systems.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for I&E systems and equipment.
- Assist in the development and implementation of reliability improvement initiatives for I&E systems.
- Stay current with industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes related to instrumentation and electrical systems.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving maintenance processes, reducing costs, and enhancing equipment reliability.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for critical equipment failures.
- Support the implementation of maintenance best practices, such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)) are a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in I&E maintenance planning, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP, Maximo, or similar.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation and electrical systems, including PLCs, DCS, analyzers, motors, and control systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an industrial environment, including climbing ladders, working at heights, and in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional overtime and on-call support.
- Work is typically performed in both an office setting and an industrial plant environment.
Exposure to hazardous materials and conditions may occur, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
