POSITION: School Communications, Media, and Marketing Specialist
Salary/Hours:
- Pay scale: Managerial Scale Grade 13 $91,471-$124,197
- Position Length: 12 months
- Hours: Full time unless otherwise specified
JOB SUMMARY: Create content across multiple platforms to promote the strategic plan of the school division.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education or communication required.
- Experience in communication, public relations, or marketing required.
- Minimum of one year leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in education preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work flexible hours attending events in the evenings and on weekends as needed. Telework options available.
- Proficiency with current technology including video/photography equipment and graphic design/web programs.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: (including but not limited to the following)
- Develops and maintains school division website.
- Creates content for social media platforms. Promotes school events and recognitions across multiple platforms.
- Composes and disseminates press releases for internal and external audiences.
- Researches and develops written correspondence for the Superintendent and other school division leaders.
- Proofreads and edits documents for various departments.
- Manage division-wide communication system including phone calls, emails, and text messages to the community.
- Attend school events and share pictures/information with the school community.
- Collaborates with city partners on school and community events.
- Develops internal and external communications including, but not limited to, school division flyers, brochures, and promotional materials.
- Coordinates video services for the school division when needed for various events.
- Responds to public records/information requests from internal and external sources. Manages FOIA requests.
- Approves flyers and outside materials for distribution in the schools.
- Assist with the coordination of media coverage of school events.
- Serves as Deputy Clerk to the School Board.
- Complies with all school laws, State Board of Education regulations, and all policies and regulations made by the School Board and Superintendent.
- Performs all duties deemed necessary by the School Board and Superintendent for the efficient and successful operation of the school system.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with other staff and the public through the
use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions will be required.
