The Teacher will provide students with appropriate learning, activities, and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Teachers manage multiple courses during each class period while ensuring students perform at the optimum level and encourage a therapeutic environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops and implements lesson plans with necessary accommodations that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program, based on TEKS, for multiple grades and subjects

Maintains accurate student grades, work, and documentation related to special populations

Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students

Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)

Performs other duties as assigned
This position involves working with challenging youth where the use of crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies may be necessary to ensure the safety of both youth and staff.

Education and Experience:
-
A valid Texas teaching certification in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Social Studies, or related subject area
OR-
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and
-
One (1) year of full-time teaching experience in an Accredited K-12 school working in grades six (6) or higher
OR
-
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least twenty-four (24) college credit hours in Math, Physical Sciences, or Social Studies; and
-
At least one (1) year of full-time paid experience working with at-risk youth.
PLUS-
Must be at least 21 years of age.

A valid driver's license (Texas upon hire) and possess and maintain liability insurance in at least the minimum amounts required by law.
Additional Requirements
Certified copies of transcripts of educational credentials and/or college credits will be required during hiring process.
