The LBM (Lumber & Building Materials) Purchaser is responsible for the execution of Wehrung’s end-to-end commodity sourcing strategy for assigned categories that align with strategic and operational procurement initiatives. In this role, the individual will purchase stock lumber building materials, maintain vendor and internal customer relationships, assist with inventory control for the business, identify cost reduction opportunities through negotiation or alternate sourcing, and negotiate agreements which assure seamless material availability required to achieve organizational objectives while maintaining strategic relationships.
The LBM Purchaser will work with operational leaders across Wehrung’s Family of Businesses (WFB) to support and implement clear and cohesive strategies, which will achieve continued improvements in input cost, supplier quality, and organizational performance.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain stock material inventory levels for assigned departments
- Review and analyze reports daily
- Provide monthly reporting on savings, cost avoidance, key initiatives, and projects.
- Monitor demand changes and adjust procurement plans as needed
- Issue purchase orders to suppliers and secure confirmations
- Coordinate with suppliers to assure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials
- Monitor supplier capacity and allocate purchasing needs accordingly
- Communicate relevant information effectively with other departments/business partners
- Communicate invoice issues with suppliers and vendors
- Monitor open orders and adjust due dates when necessary
- Updated replacement cost in computer
- Monitor and update margins for assigned product categories
- Develops sales, gross profit, and stock turn goals annually.
- Review Key Performance Indicators monthly.
- Analyze available procurement data to include year-over-year spending trends, spend by business unit/division, spend by supplier, number of suppliers, price variance, and transactional volumes.
- Analyze market trends and offerings to assist in development and execution of merchandise stock assortments, business strategies and goals for assigned product departments.
- Participate in supply partner negotiations establishing favorable pricing, terms and conditions while ensuring required organizational service levels are achieved.
- Assists in creation of inventory control and purchasing policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven record of procurement and cost management across goods and services and understanding of the entire procurement cycle.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years purchasing experience
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
- Ability to gather and analyze data
- Proficient computer skills; MS Office

- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to multi-task
Schedule: Monday through Friday, minimum 45 hours/week
Pay Range: Salaried; Commensurate with experience
