*KEY ROLES:
Program Development and Implementation
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for members and visitors
- Develop and utilize programs that are fun and engaging that fits the area you are in
- Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure the safety of members
- Maintain a ratio of staff to members at 1:20
- Create, post, and follow weekly lesson plans for multiple areas
- Thorough knowledge and ability to program in multiple areas throughout the club
- Implement set programs such as Healthy Habits, Smart Moves, Power Hour, and others according to the area that you are working in
Program Supervision
- Provide active supervision continually interacting with all members and providing motivation and encouragement
- Discipline members fairly, consistently, and only according to established policies and procedures
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings
- Serve as a role model and mentor to Youth Development Workers and Youth Development Associates
- Provide supervision in various areas to include Activities Room, Arts & Crafts Room, Cadet Room, Computer Lab, Discovery Zone, Early Childhood Room, Games Room, Gym, Home Center Area, Homework Area, Kindergarten Room, Learning Center, Life Skills Room, Lunch Room, Multi-purpose Room, Music Area, Playground, Recreation Area, and Teen Room
Program Management
- Ability to supervise peers in daily programming
- Ability to train other staff that are Youth Development Workers and Youth Development Associates
Prepare Youth for Success
- Know the Youth Development Strategy- Instill in youth feelings of Belonging, Usefulness, Influence, and Competence (BUIC).
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
- promote and stimulate program participation
- create opportunities for the development of strengths and competencies
- provide guidance and role modeling to members
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in special programs and events
- Required to be a monitor on the bus
- Complete training as required by licensing agency
- Required to work in all areas of the club
- Clean area and bathrooms as needed at the end of day
- Manage specialty groups like advisory group, Smart Girls, PEP, and many others
- Communicate with parents about issues with children.
- Evaluate peers performance through evaluations with the help of the supervisor
- Encouraged to obtain Bus License and all additional training
JOB REQUIREMENTS: SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
- High School diploma or GED Required
- Must be able to run a club in the absence of Full-time staff
- Experience working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Knowledge of Department of Education/ DHS Licensing Requirements
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to deal with the general public
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- Must be flexible and be able to work well with other team members
- Ability to multitask
- Must be CPR and First Aid Certified
- Problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills with supervisor and parents
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
- Must be able to move quickly to keep up with youth
- Must be able to remain alert and energetic for 8 hours or more
