Job Description - Design Engineer (CAD) – Commercialization
Position Overview:
As a Commercialization Cad Designer, you play a pivotal role in creating 3D design models and translating product concepts into manufacturable and functional production tools for kydex holsters and other product as necessary. Creating precise 3D models of tooling in FUSION 360 for machining in 3-axle CNC machines, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. This is a highly collaborative role; partnering with other cad designers, machine shop and QC to resolve quality issues throughout the testing cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
3D Modeling:
- Design, develop and engineer high-quality designs models using parametric 3D modeling software, currently using Fusion 360.
- Contribute to the automation of the existing holster cutting process by converting 3D tooling models into applicable CNC router files.
- Design Optimization: Apply established design standards to each tooling project ensuring manufacturing feasibility, functionality and quality and performance specifications are met.
- Reverse Engineering: Utilize reverse engineering techniques to develop tooling and other products, fostering innovation and problem-solving.
- Fixture Design: Design fixtures for CNC machines, optimizing the manufacturing process for various tools and products.
- Quality Assurance: Resolve quality issues by optimizing, maintaining, and upgrading tooling CAD files.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the Machine Shop and QC to ensure designs meet technical specifications and functional requirements.
- Issue Resolution: Determine possible limitations and constraints related to manufacturing and communicate potential design solutions to key project stakeholders.
- Project Management: Track and manage prototype testing iteration timing for each project on the Monday Board and respond quickly to edits as needed.
- Filing System Maintenance: Manage and maintain the filing system in Fusion 360 used in the department, ensuring easy access to critical documents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering / 2-3 years’ experience in related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software, FUSION 360 is a plus.
- Experience in CNC machining and 3D printing a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of quality control methodology.
- Organizational and project management skills.

Salary: Based on experience $21 -23/hr.
