The Legal Account Coordinator is an integral part of the Credit team with the primary responsibility of providing customer service and collecting open accounts receivable which have been placed with outside collection agencies or law firms. The position also entails monitoring account and job balances to ensure that preliminary notices are correct and lien and bond claims are filed accurately within the required time constraints to maintain lien rights.

- Coordinate the filing and release of mechanic’s liens, performance bond claims, stop notices and verify as necessary upon Supervisor approval. Maintain log records accordingly
- Consider lawsuit and post judgment requests from collection agencies and attorneys to make decision within provided guidelines. Review and attest miscellaneous paperwork
- Assist in both internal and external inquiries (written, telephone and email) related to collection accounts. Defer to appropriate agency or attorney when warranted. Inform team members appropriately with status.
- Reconciles the attorney’s billings and updates the collections database accordingly
- Review bankruptcy notices and make appropriate AS/400 notation. File bankruptcy proofs of claims as needed
- Determine ‘S’ and ‘T’ status accounts that are eligible for bad debt write-off using guidelines. Prepare and maintain the ‘Quarterly Bad Debt Write-Off Report’ to be approved by Management. Adjust corresponding items from the report in the AS/400 and supply correlating comment denoting bad debt write-off amount
