Job Title: Construction Superintendent
We are looking for a deadline-driven Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee our construction project and to act as the link between various project parties with GCC. This includes both the in-house personnel and that of any subcontractor working on the jobsite.
The Superintendent will lead and manage the on-site construction team and oversee all work on-site as well as being responsible for orderliness on-site and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
This position is directly responsible for organizing a crew, implementing, and overseeing the work performed by GCC. They shall assist the Construction Manager with monitoring the day-to-day work, as directed by the Project Managers.
The Superintendent will ensure quality standards are met, maintain equipment, and assure materials are always available on-site. In the absence of a Construction Manager (CM), the Superintendent will conduct a daily JSA with any assigned crew.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: This position handles the overall implementation of the work performed, overall inspection of the work performed, ensuring compliance with project technical specifications and construction drawings and /or addenda. Coordinates with the Project management team to provide field engineering support as necessary to resolve changes and modifications to the engineering drawings as well as for issues regarding field changes to project scope or costs. Coordinate between Project Management and the job site to provide responses to site queries or technical information. (e.g., RFI, Variances)
This position is noted as a liaison between Subcontractors and the Project Team. Superintendent will coordinate and supervise project contractors, ensure contractor’s conformance to project schedule and to site construction procedures. This position will coordinate with the owner’s representative with issues regarding owner operations and /or required outages. Monitor the progress of the construction work and provide weekly progress reports. This position will implement and lead weekly construction coordination meetings with each contractor. The meeting shall address safety, labor, technical matters then prepare and distribute meeting minutes within 24 hours of the meeting.
This position will coordinate the preparation of redlines drawing records among contractors, will coordinate safety and work permit with the dedicated project safety representative, assist with governmental permit concerns and/or required inspections.
Must review and adhere to the schedule and project budget. Monitor and ensure on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and orderliness. Must conduct daily logs of site activity, field reports and maintain project field records and filing of construction documentation and will also assist with project punch list coordination with responsible subs and close out.
Minor Duties and Responsibilities: Adhere to department wide expectations and maintain company vision. With readily hands on, should work closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager other Superintendents, field personnel, subcontractors, and other project team members, having regular meetings, and forecasting project needs from days 0 – 21. Directly reports to the Construction Manager (CM), or if lack thereof, the Project Manager (PM).
Qualifications for the Job: Minimum requirements are a high school diploma with at least five (5) years of Commercial Superintendent Experience.
Key Competencies: Must be physically active, able to lift 80lbs, and able to operate heavy machinery. Must be able to read and interpret architectural drawings. A skilled communicator, both oral and written. Strong technical, organizational, and forecasting skills. A suitable knowledge of industry standards and practices. Adept to learning new computer programs and technology.
Salary: 50,000.00 / Year Dependant On Experience
