Overview: Responsible for structuring and implementing breeding projects and production trials. Collecting and managing data and presenting relevant information to product development teams.
Duties/Responsibiities:
- Responsible for hybridizing plants, managing seed and seedling populations, projecting transplant schedules, and structuring production trials.
- Coordinating the day-to-day efforts of the GA based breeding team. Assigning tasks, managing projects, and providing quality control for various trials.
- Collect data and evaluate plants based on performance, overall production quality and commercial potential.
- Create breeding plans / strategies for existing and future hybridization projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
- 4-5 years of relevant, industry-based experience. MS and PhD candidates will be considered based on relevancy of field of study.
- Solid understanding of mendelian genetics and various modes of inheritance.
- Experience with advanced plant breeding techniques / practices.
- General knowledge pertaining to plant propagation and production practices, plant health, fertility, and irrigation practices.
- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
