We currently have two full-time surgeons on staff, and we are looking for a surgeon interested in part-time work and/or a flexible schedule. Duties would include day-time and on-call coverage for emergent and urgent surgeries. Additional schedule opportunities are available when one of our surgeons has a planned absence. We are flexible to discuss the schedule and workload interests of each applicant and can be creative in finding solutions
CUVS is a unique hospital – a private practice and an independent subsidiary of Cornell University, bringing the best of both worlds and also something quite different. We are specialist-run. Our specialists are a cohesive team of clinicians who strongly believe in collaboration, communication, respect, and lifelong learning, and are actively involved in strategic medical and organizational decisions. We pride ourselves on our phenomenally and uniquely positive culture.
CUVS has specialists in emergency-critical care (5), internal medicine (3), surgery (2), radiology (2), oncology (2), ophthalmology, dermatology, dentistry-oral surgery, cardiology and anesthesiology. We have 4 ECC residents; no interns.
We fully understand and appreciate the unique needs of each specialty, and work with the specialists to create the optimal service. We have all the tools, technology and staff for optimum patient care and clinician efficiency, and an exemplary team dynamic. The Surgery department currently comprises 2 full-time surgeons, a great nursing staff (including 2 VTS-Anesthesia/Analgesia), and a dedicated client service representative. The department is further supported by strong interdepartmental collaborations, an anesthesiologist, and a 365-day/year criticalist-staffed ECC department.
We are exceedingly well equipped, including with a 128-slice CT scanner, C-arm fluoroscopy and a comprehensive Interventional suite. We have a large and diverse caseload, and a clientele that are willing and able to pursue the best medical options for their pets. Our sophisticated infrastructure, technology and training facilitate optimal functioning for the busy specialist, as well as remarkable client satisfaction.
Located in Harbor Point, Stamford, on Connecticut’s “Gold Coast”, the area offers beauty, a rich cultural experience, and myriad water and other outdoor activities. We are 45 minutes from Manhattan and minutes from commuter trains and the Interstate, offering easy access to other parts of New England and the Northeast.
CUVS is a great place to practice at your best. Individuals with a passion for their work, a strong sense of collaboration and teamwork, and an appreciation for diversity are strongly encouraged to apply.
