POSITION OVERVIEW
About the Position
To ensure all activities at the school are characterized by good communications, adequate safeguards, high level of sportsmanship and discipline with the students, faculty, administration, school board, community and other schools.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Masters degree or higher from an accredited institution.
Experience
- Three years of relevant teaching experience
- Demonstrated leadership in the school
OR
Combined education and experience qualifications
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year for year basis.
Other Requirements
- Hold a valid Arizona Principals Certificate
- Hold a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card
- State Certificate in subject areas taught or related field
- State of Arizona state certification in secondary education

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
- Assists site director, principal and teachers with instructional planning.
- Helps supervise teacher as they plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for students on site.
- Observe and evaluate teacher’s performance and development verbally and in written form.
- Use and operate relevant technology and equipment provided by they school to support instructional program.
- Monitor assigned and graded classwork, homework, tests and assignments are completed in a timely manner.
- Identify when a teacher is providing a fully prepared classroom for class activities (physically and mentally).
- Effectively communicate necessary information regularly to teachers, students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs in written and verbal communications.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual teachers.
- Provide appropriate feedback on teachers’ work in writing and verbally.
- Maintain accurate and complete written records of teachers’ progress and development.
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, procedures and school regulations.
- Prepare required written reports on teachers’ and students’ and activities.
- Assist teachers as they manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures that correlate to Sequoia’s Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school as stated in Sequoia’s Policies and Procedures and school level handbooks.
- Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary to maintain an effective school environment (as described in Sequoia’s Policies and Procedures (best practices)).
- Perform certain pastoral duties including but not limited to teacher and student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement.
- Performs other duties as requested by the administration.
