Seeking full-time Medical Assistant/Scribe for busy neurosurgery clinic. Minimum of 2 year commitment. Job intended for those seeking higher medical degree (pre-med, pre-PA). You will gain hands-on patient experience as a medical assistant while watching and documenting patient-physician interactions as a scribe - both of which count towards PCE hours for most graduate programs.
Prior medical experience a plus, but not required. Willing to train on-the-job.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (required)
- Able to task-switch efficiently
- General knowledge of medical terminology required
- Customer service skills
- Knowledge of different insurance types
- Typing speed of 60+ WPM- Must be able to scribe on demand
- Bachelor's degree in related field OR MA certification
Tasks/Responsibilities
- Rooming patients: collecting vitals (blood pressure, height, weight, temperature), reviewing medications and allergies lists, gathering pertinent medical history prior to physician entering the room, relaying said information to provider
- Accurate visit documentation: documenting visits with physician and patient present, entering orders such as referrals/imaging/prescriptions requested by provider into EMR (electronic healthcare record), documenting results of neurological exam
- Patient check out: Scheduling follow up and imaging appointments, providing after visit summary/check out instructions
- Pre-charting: gathering information from elsewhere in patient’s chart to prepare for upcoming visit (i.e. lab results, imaging reports, etc)
- Administrative medical assistant tasks: confirming appointments, submitting insurance authorizations, assisting in surgery scheduling, scanning documents into EMR
- Other MA roles such as blood draws, assisting in procedures, and other miscellaneous tasks requested by the providers
