JOB SUMMARY
As the Employee Relations and Training Specialist, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring a safety-first mentality on our production floor. This position requires a strong understanding of employee relations, Human Resources training and development, as well as knowledge of workers' compensation and OSHA safety regulations. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential due to our diverse workforce.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in implementing employee relations strategies and initiatives specific to the production floor, promoting a safety-first mentality and adherence to food safety protocols.
2. Work directly with the President and Operations Manager on the development of an employee training/certification program.
3. Serve as a point of contact for employees on the production floor, providing guidance and support on employment-related matters and safety concerns.
4. Conduct New Hire Orientations and Monthly Safety Meetings.
5. Responsible for all new direct labor training and on-the-floor orientation.
6. Will be an active member of our Safety Committee by providing regular feedback on current safety concerns, potential safety risks, and provide suggestions on ways to improve.
7. Conduct investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and safety incidents, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
8. Collaborate with management to develop and deliver training programs on OSHA regulations, food safety, and other relevant topics for employees working on the production floor in conjunction with the Facilities Engineer.
9. Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness, making recommendations for improvements as needed to enhance food safety practices and safety awareness.
10. Assist in the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives specific to the production floor, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
11. Will strongly support the Company’s Food Safety Program
12. Will strongly support the Company’s SQF Program
13. Will strongly support the Company’s FSMA Program
14. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
a) Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications or additional training in employee relations, food safety, and OSHA safety will be considered a plus.
b) Proven experience as an Employee Relations Specialist, HR Generalist, or similar role, preferably in a food manufacturing or production environment.
c) In-depth knowledge of workers' compensation laws, OSHA regulations, and best practices in food safety.
d) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
e) Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
f) Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
g) Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations and handling employee relations issues related to safety incidents.
h) Experience in implementing training programs, specifically focused on food safety and OSHA regulations.
i) Ability to work in hot temperature environments and a fast-paced production setting.
j) A flexible schedule is required. Must be available to work morning and evening shifts as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
a) As the role requires working on the production floor, physical fitness, and the ability to meet the physical demands of the job, such as standing for long periods, lifting moderate weights, and navigating the production environment, are necessary.
