SUMMARY
Premier Arts and Science Charter School is hiring for teachers (varying grades) for the 2023-2024 school year. Premier’s teachers are expected to instruct students at the elementary levels in activities designed to promote social, emotional, and intellectual growth in subject matters and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible members of their community and the greater society.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties must be performed on site. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
- Teaches the school’s approved curriculum daily.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction. Adapts the curriculum to provide differentiation to individual students and small groups.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and meets the social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs of students.
- Translates lesson plans into developmentally-appropriate learning experiences daily.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of grade level Pennsylvania Core standards.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. and communicates these objectives to students.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities daily.
- Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily.
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports as appropriate and required.
- Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and assists in developing strategies for individual education plans daily as needed.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner daily as needed.
- Communicates regularly with parents outside of the normal classroom day by various means such as newsletters, notes, phone calls, emails, conferences, etc. daily as needed.
- Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of teacher associates, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips as needed.
- Works as a team member on building level committee and collegial activities within the building.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Meets core expectations for all certified staff reflected in the Pennsylvania Core Teaching Standards.
