Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Systems Engineer - Orion on the Human Space Flight Technical Integration (HSFTIC) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

Our primary government work is with NASA and is conducted at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX and the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL. Barrios employees make significant contributions to our nation’s space program by providing expertise that advances our presence in low Earth orbit and lays the groundwork for future missions to the Moon through our work on the International Space Station, Orion, Gateway, and Space Launch System. Barrios employees are also actively participating in the growth of the commercial spaceflight industry through partnerships with Sierra Space, Dynetics, Northrup-Grumman, and Intuitive Machines.
Responsibilities:
The Systems Engineer - Orion will:

Manage the Orion Flight Test Objectives (FTO) and Development Flight Test Objectives (DFTO) process and documentation for the Orion program.
- Provide pre-flight technical support for cross program data dependencies and post-flight products.

Manage the Data Analysis Plan (DAP) and lead the integration of the Post Flight Analysis Report (PFAR)

Maintain oversight on the allocation of Development Flight Instrumentation (DFI) to each discipline in support of the baselined FTOs for each mission. Monitor the health and status of the DFI sensors through channelization and peripheral hardware since failures impact the ability to fully meet FTOs.

Provide supplemental real-time support during the mission from the Orion Mission Evaluation Room (MER).

Provide technical expertise and give technical presentations in major project milestones, boards, and panels.

Establish working relationships with NASA leads, system managers, commercial teammates, and international partners to lead systems integration activities.

Support transition of the Orion program from a development program into a sustaining program via implementing process improvements.

Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
-
BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus ten (10) years of appropriate work experience.

Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.

Applied knowledge of spacecraft lifecycle development and working knowledge of associated engineering disciplines.

Ability to work well in a team and independently.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
Preferences:
-
Prior experience in NASA space programs, particularly Orion.

Prior experience supporting real-time space activities.
-
INCOSE Certified System Engineering Professional.

Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering or equivalent engineering.

Experience with innovation or process improvements projects and initiatives.

Ability to independently manage multiple tasks concurrently.
