Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
Location: Arlington, VA Area
Position Type: Full-Time
Hours: Full time, 7:50 AM to 3:10 PM Monday, 7:50 AM to 4:00 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
- Develop, coordinate and implement individual vision intervention plans that support the IEP goals and objectives using an integrated service model.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations using a variety of assessment tools and resources; develop written evaluations.
- May assist in the planning and developing of training programs and in-services, as well as with presentation.
- Recommend, design and assist in the procurement of adaptive equipment, assistive technology and augmentative/alternative communication systems necessary for students to meet IEP goals.
- May assist in planning, developing, and presenting in-service training programs; instruct in techniques.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment.
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities.
- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Experience with orientation and mobility training.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in the education of students with visual impairments.
