JOB SUMMARY:
The Operations Manager reports directly to the owners and is responsible for the leadership of the operations department. This position plays a key role on our Leadership Team, working in close partnership with our Sales Manager and People Manager.
This position’s primary responsibility is ensuring that every day is executed to the highest standards of tree care with respect to safety and customer service. The Operations Manager is always focused on safety, production efficiency and profitability. This person will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and managing 20+ field team members and ensuring they have the tools and training necessary to continue to drive excellence at STC. Additionally, the Operations Manager supports the office-based positions related to scheduling & dispatch, ensuring revenue targets are met through accurate and optimized project scheduling and day of logistics.
Operations Manager Primary Duties:
- Lead the Operations Department at STC, setting standards, building systems and maximizing weekly revenue and profitability
- Hiring, performance reviews, training, coaching and daily management of all Operations personnel, including Crew Leaders, Climbers and Grounds Crew, Safety & Training Coordinator and Operations Project Manager
- Ensure proper safety protocols are being followed by all crews and that training is documented; maintain records for annual filings; conduct incident / injury audits
- Lead Safety Meetings & Trainings
- Work closely with Sales Manager, Project Managers, Operations Project Manager, field crews and office to ensure project success and customer satisfaction by actively reviewing work orders and strategizing crew deployment
- Participate in weekly Leadership Team meetings facilitated by our business coach, and work directly with our business coach on a personal development and growth plan specific to you and your role at STC
- Perform project management for company initiatives identified by the Leadership Team
- Assist with prevailing wage job detail documentation requirements
- Draft and continually update department wide SOP’s and training materials
- Follow established company systems to track KPIs, regularly running the numbers and reporting outwards as needed
- Ensure accurate daily labor resource tracking
- Maintain company legal compliance as related to Operations and Fleet Management
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in a similar position leading a department
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- 2+ years of experience with financial tracking, ex: KPIs, light bookkeeping
- Minimum 1 year experience in the green industry preferred not not required
Education
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
