This is a detailed job posting, please read it carefully before applying as we would like to find a really good fit for your sake and ours. Looking for a hard working, self starting, people oriented, curious, independent thinking team member to join our small family owned business. Duties are varied, and include learning about raw feeding for pets, rotating into the kitchen to help make food for pets, working inside a large walk in freezer to stock and re-stock shelves, helping customers have an amazing experience while shopping with us, building and developing long term relationships with customers and their pets, unloading trucks, stocking and counting inventory, keeping displays neat and well stocked, operating a cash register accurately, having an enthusiastic attitude to learning new skills and new information about the products we sell. You would ideally have some experience in both retail and food service, good time management skills, comfortable working inside a cold freezer (with appropriate clothing), have solid basic math and written English skills, neat and clean appearance, like pets and be comfortable around an assortment of pets that do come to the store to visit - it would be even better if you own at least one pet. Extra bonus if you have cool (and legible) handwriting! The pay stated is a range for your probationary period of 60 days and there is some space for negotiation for an outstanding candidate.
Available hours are open - from 20 hours /week to 40 hours/week. Great, low drama work environment. Our ideal candidate is looking for a long term position to grow into and upwards with the company, working closely with a small team and a loyal customer base. Must be able to easily lift 40lb boxes multiple times in a day, able to stand for up to 1 hour at a time or longer and be comfortable suiting up in cold weather gear to work inside the freezer stocking for short periods. Current open hours are 6am-3pm Tues-Fri and 9-2 on Saturdays. No Sunday, no Monday. Closed for major holidays. Optional hours worked in the kitchen area. You need to submit a resume with your application, and complete the assessment project assigned to this posting. Please also send a cover letter explaining why you think this would be a good fit for you. Applications that do not have a cover letter will not be considered for the position as this is a requirement to show that you have read the job description fully and are able to follow written directions. Team members are treated with respect and appreciation and this is a very nice environment to work in, although on truck days you will work hard and get sweaty!
