The Safety/Training Manager is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal guidelines. They create Shop Training curricula in keeping with EHS guidelines and conduct training sessions. They monitor compliance, investigate accidents, provide recommendations for improvement, and keep all required Safety/Training documentation current.
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as safety manager
- Proven experience in employee training
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required
- Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
- Proven ability in creating training modules
- Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
Responsibilities
- Daily inspections of the shop processes/employees
- Create Shop Training curricula and lead/facilitate training
· Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
· Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
- Provides management team with guidance on health and safety and confirms plant meets or exceeds industry, local, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.
· Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
· Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
· Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
· Monitor compliance to policies by inspecting employees, subcontractors, and operations
- Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
· Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Establish and maintain complete safety and training records.
- Insurance - Liaison with HR & Insurance entities, compile injury reports
· Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and document
· Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
