Position Description
UCA’s Center for Excellence in Teaching & Academic Leadership (CETAL) is seeking an experienced instructional designer to join our highly collaborative team of professionals. UCA’s instructional designers train and consult with faculty to employ evidence-based pedagogies in the design, development, and delivery of quality online, hybrid, and web-enhanced in-person courses. The CETAL team is located on a vibrant campus in the thriving city of Conway, Arkansas.
Duties and Responsibilities
Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse academic community
Consult with faculty individually and in group settings for the design, development, and delivery of online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses
Coordinate and assist in the facilitation of faculty-led training, professional learning communities, and instructional workshops
Conduct formal quality reviews of online courses to optimize the learning experience and assess for regulatory compliance
Develop instructional and promotional materials in various multimedia formats
Research and recommend best practices in teaching, instructional resources, and technologies to support teaching and learning
Formulate and deliver presentations on pedagogical and technological topics
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Commitment to a collaborative approach to faculty development
Effective communication with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and other constituents
Ability to prioritize and manage short- and long-term projects
Competency in course design standards, including federal requirements for distance education, ADA, and Section 504
Online course review and development using standard instructional design principles
Ability to function in a small, multifaceted office environment
Talent for designing engaging learning and promotional materials
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field, or equivalent experience in education, online teaching, and/or design experience
Two or more years of proven instructional design and/or online teaching experience
Proficiency with design and development in learning management systems
Experience with designing learning experiences, facilitating training, and presenting faculty development
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years experience navigating the higher education setting
Instructional coaching in the higher education setting
OSCQR rubric implementation and management
Online teaching experience
Experience with current and emerging technologies and instructional solutions (Top Hat, Kaltura, Annoto, etc.)
Experience with document remediation technologies (Equidox, Adobe Acrobat)
Database development and management using FileMaker
