SUMMARY
The Purchasing Agent at Maverick Beverage Company is responsible for executing the category strategy and product/service sourcing process, while providing input for continuous process improvement in those areas. This person will assist the Director of Purchasing and the Purchasing Team in the day-to-day operations of the Purchasing Department. This person is also responsible for ongoing supplier management of vendors. This position will be responsible for the purchasing activities, including coordination of company purchasing responsibilities with sales, operations, vendors, and accounting. We are looking for a team player with a strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure.
Essential Functions (This list may not include all duties as assigned):
· Completes Vendor Setup Forms.
· Identifies and makes process improvements.
· Provide support for the Director of Purchasing.
· Activates vendor registrations, sets up new SKUs and Vendors, and validates the accuracy of item and vendor records. Assist vendors with purchase orders to help them understand how to do business with the Company. Provides vendors with requested information or documents.
· Assists in monitoring and tracking shipments for on-time delivery.
· Manages Purchase Orders within Blue Ridge.
· Updates Purchase Orders sent from Blue Ridge by Brand Managers and makes changes to them after reviewing them.
· Places approved purchase orders.
· Manages Purchase Order acknowledgements.
· Responsible for invoice corrections in conjunction with Purchase Order acknowledgements.
· Responsible for Netsuite to Blue Ridge interfacing for vintage rolls (linking items), inactive items, activity codes.
· Responsible for the internal order transfer process.
· Assists with direct import ordering and freight.
- Represents companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
- Develops and implements purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains records of products ordered and received.
- Helps to resolve vendor or supplier grievances.
- Follows purchasing department budgets.
- Administers online purchasing systems.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· High School diploma required.
· College degree preferred or 4 years equivalent job experience.
· 2-3 years’ experience with purchasing or logistics.
· 2-3 years’ experience in management with an alcoholic beverage wholesaler or supplier and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Basic accounting skills required.
· Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills
· Sense of urgency with the ability to set and meet deadlines
· Attention to detail
· Demonstrate experience communicating orally and in writing with accurate spelling, punctuation, and grammar
· Team oriented
· Efficient in Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook
· Maintain an effective work ethic without constant supervision

· Knowledge of NetSuite or similar software is a plus.
