Overview:
The Instructional Designer III at Sure Steel, Inc. is a senior-level position within the Learning & Development team, responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive and innovative learning solutions. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to analyze training needs, design advanced instructional content, and create engaging learning experiences that drive performance improvement and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Learning Strategy Development:
- Lead the development and implementation of the organization's learning and development strategy, aligned with business goals and objectives.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and performance analyses to identify key areas for employee development and skill enhancement.
2. Instructional Design Leadership:
- Lead the design and development of advanced instructional materials and resources, including e-learning modules, virtual simulations, serious games, and blended learning solutions.
- Apply advanced instructional design theories, principles, and methodologies to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
- Innovate and experiment with emerging technologies and learning modalities to enhance learning effectiveness and engagement.
3. Content Development Expertise:
- Develop complex and interactive multimedia learning assets, such as 3D animations, virtual reality (VR) experiences, and augmented reality (AR) applications.
- Write sophisticated instructional content, scripts, storyboards, and assessments for various delivery modalities.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, graphic designers, and multimedia specialists to produce high-quality learning materials.
4. Quality Assurance and Evaluation:
- Lead the review and evaluation of instructional materials for accuracy, effectiveness, and alignment with learning objectives.
- Conduct usability testing, learner feedback sessions, and pilot evaluations to gather insights and make iterative improvements to learning materials.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, accessibility guidelines, and best practices in instructional design and e-learning development.
5. Learning Technology Integration:
- Lead the integration of advanced learning technologies and tools into learning solutions, such as artificial intelligence (AI), adaptive learning systems, and learning analytics.
- Evaluate and recommend new learning technologies and platforms to enhance the delivery and tracking of training initiatives.
- Provide expert-level technical guidance and support to instructional designers and stakeholders on learning technology platforms and tools.
6. Project Management and Leadership:
- Lead complex instructional design projects from concept to completion, managing project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Mentor and coach junior instructional designers, providing guidance and expertise to support their professional growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning & Development, or a related field. Candidates with extensive relevant work experience, including significant responsibilities in instructional design leadership, advanced e-learning development, project management, and innovation roles, may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Master’s degree or professional certification in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in instructional design, e-learning development, or related fields, with a proven track record of designing and developing advanced learning solutions.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading instructional design projects and initiatives, from needs assessment to implementation.
- Extensive experience with advanced instructional design theories, methodologies, and technologies.
- Expert knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and multimedia design techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.
- Proficiency in using advanced e-learning authoring tools, such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, or similar software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior team members.
- Adaptability and willingness to stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in instructional design and e-learning development.
