Betty Shabazz International Charter School (BSICS) is looking to hire an experienced, creative and outgoing Student Recruitment & Enrollment Manager to assist us with meeting our annual school enrollment goals.
Established in 1998, BSICS is a network comprised of two K-8 Chicago elementary campuses. Our Betty Shabazz Academy campus is located at 7823 S. Ellis Ave in Chatham. Our Barbara A. Sizemore Academy campus is located at 6547 S. Stewart Ave in Englewood.
Our academic model incorporates Black history, achievement and culture as well as community service and character development into all aspects of our rigorous curriculum, school routines and physical environments. As a result, daily, our students are taught that with historical understanding, culture, community, planning, proper values, discipline, and individual and collective work they can overcome any challenge, academically excel and become transformational, next generation, global leaders.
Our Ideal Candidate:
In addition to being someone with proven success in executing strategic and targeted student recruiting campaigns for schools, our ideal candidate will have:
- The storytelling and marketing skills to easily and effectively communicate the significant value of attending our schools to parents in-person, by phone and text, door-to-door, through print and mail, and via digital media.
- Previous work experience that shows they can comfortably approach and engage with, earn the trust of, and secure interest in a service from residents in Chicago communities like Englewood, Chatham, Greater Grand Crossing, Washington Park, Bronzeville and Auburn Gresham.
- An ability to generate enrollment referrals by quickly identifying, connecting with and securing the trust of community institutions that serve families and youth in the areas we serve.
- Strong interest in regularly participating in and promoting our school to prospective parents at weekday, evening and weekend events taking place in our targeted areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop clear, objective and data informed recruitment campaigns that achieve established goals
- Prepare marketing plans that attract new students, and build school and brand awareness
- Manage day-to-day recruiting and enrollment activities for the network
- Create and push effective school promotional messages using a variety of print, media, door-to-door, street-level, text, phone, digital marketing and feeder development approaches
- Work closely with Principals and Office Managers to coordinate family interviews, school campus tours, open houses, shadow days, etc. for prospective families
- Maintain regular contact with enrolled parents to secure student referrals and retain their children
- Stay in regular communication with families who have accepted an enrollment slot up to their first day of attendance
- Exude confidence about our school and its academic and cultural mission
- Effectively articulate our school’s values and mission
- Maintain a reputation as a professional with staff, students, parents, and those in the neighborhoods we serve
- Work with staff to keep our recruitment and enrollment calendars and management systems updated
- Oversee the collection and processing of prospective student applications and the issuance and collection of signed acceptance letters
- Keep clear and accurate records as well as prepare and present timely reports on recruitment and enrollment activities as requested by management
- Follow and assist in the updating of recruiting and enrollment policies and procedures

- Poses communication, marketing, planning and organizational skills
- Skilled public speaker
- Familiarity with organizing, prioritizing, tracking, and managing workflow processes
Other Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 2 years of experience in the field of recruiting and enrollment management
- Availability to work on weekdays, nights, weekends and non-traditional hours
- Access to personal transportation to travel throughout Chicago
- Ability to work independently and without significant supervision
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
