Referral/Authorization Coordinator
Location: 370 E. Virginia Ave. #100, Phoenix, AZ 85004
Position Summary:
Obtains information, insurance verification and authorization required for proper patient treatment and referrals. A successful candidate will enjoy a challenge as well as demonstrate strength and core competencies in:
- Receive, track and obtain insurance authorization from in-network and out of network insurance carriers for New Patient visits, Follow up visits, in office procedures and scheduled surgeries for our medical providers.
- Process physician referral orders (EMG, CT, MRI, etc.) using EMR system. This includes obtaining authorization as needed and documenting within the EMR
- Coordinate new OT/PT therapy referrals and obtain authorization as necessary
- Remains up to date with therapy and radiology location insurance contracts
- Maintain accurate and up to date account notes

Minimum Job Requirements
- 2 years of medical office experience performing insurance verifications and authorizations
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding conventions
- Ability to multitask and handle a high volume in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to effectively communicate using proper grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Intermediate knowledge of standard office procedures and software applications
- Experience utilizing EMR/EHR and/or Practice Management software
- Ability to use sound independent judgement and self-supervise
- Intermediate computer skills involving MS Office programs
- Out of Network experience is a plus
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bilingual candidates strongly preferred
- Background check required
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
