Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a comprehensive science and geography curriculum aligned with school objectives for third and fourth-grade students.
- Develop engaging lesson plans and hands-on activities that stimulate curiosity and enhance understanding of scientific concepts and geographical knowledge.
- Teach daily science or geography classes, providing instruction, guidance, and encouragement to students of varying skill levels and abilities. (One quarter devoted to each of the following: Earth Science, Life Science, Physical Science, Geography.)
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore scientific and geographical concepts and develop a passion for learning.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and faculty members to coordinate curriculum integration, interdisciplinary projects, and school-wide events.
- Assess student progress through regular homework, assessments, and projects, providing constructive feedback to support individual growth.
- Promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry-based learning through interactive lessons and discussions.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance, communicating with parents and guardians as needed to address concerns or celebrate achievements.
- Stay current with trends, developments, and best practices in science and geography education, integrating innovative techniques and technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school community through extracurricular activities, events, and committees.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Science Education, Geography, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Prior experience teaching science and/or geography at the elementary level.
- Strong knowledge of child development, scientific principles, and geographical concepts.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
