Overview: St. Thomas Aquinas High School, renowned for its excellence in academics and sports, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Athletic Director focusing on operations and facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in athletics management, facilities maintenance, and a passion for promoting school sports through various media platforms.
Responsibilities:
Operations and Facilities Management:
- Oversee daily operations and maintenance of athletic facilities, ensuring all venues are ready for competition and practice.
- Coordinate game day operations, including setup and breakdown, operational plans for games and travel, securing game workers, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Manage the maintenance and upkeep of all sports fields, gyms, and athletic equipment, including weight room facilities.
- Coordinate with the facility director and external contractors for facility repairs, renovations, and improvements.
- Oversee inventory and coordinate requisitions of athletic equipment and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding school athletic programs, safety, and health standards.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director on budgeting and financial planning for athletic facilities and operations.
Event Coordination:
- Assist in scheduling
- Oversee all home athletic events, ensuring proper setup, teardown, and security.
- Assist in coordinating transportation for athletic teams and manage logistics for away games.
- Serve as a secondary contact for home games and other major events.
- Supervise the utilization of athletic facilities for external events and rentals.
- Work directly with security and local law enforcement to ensure events are properly staffed and secure.
Promotions and Media:
- Assist Sports Information in the creation and dissemination of promotional materials for athletic events, including graphic design and content creation.
- Assist Sports Information in the creation and oversight of social media accounts and other digital platforms to promote sports programs and events.
- Assist Sports Information on capturing and editing photos and videos for promotional purposes and maintain an archive of multimedia content.
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies to increase student and community engagement with athletic programs.
Administrative Support:
- Assist in the oversight, selection and evaluation of coaches and other athletic staff.
- Assist in ensuring all athletic programs adhere to school policies and procedures, including student eligibility and athletic code of conduct.
- Maintain records and documentation related to athletic programs and events.
- Provide direct oversite of concession and merchandise store.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management preferred, Physical Education, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in athletic operations, facilities management, or a related area.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other graphic design software is a plus, but not required. Candidates with these skills will receive additional consideration. Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and engage in physical activities related to athletic events and facilities maintenance.
